Crosshill House stands at the top of the village of Laxton in Nottinghamshire looking down the main street and close to Visitor Centre and the friendly village pub, The Dovecote Inn. Laxton is famous as the last village in the country still practicing the open field strip farming system and the main street through the village is much used by the farmers travelling to their strips in the three open fields. Although the original part of the house is 200 years old the whole building has been refurbished and offers every modern comfort. It is not immediately apparent that the left hand section of this building is so old as the original bricks were in a poor state, making it necessary to put a reclaimed brick skin right around it when it was extended and refurbished . There is a comfortable guest lounge with a roaring log burner to warm the winter visitor and large, colourful gardens to help our guests unwind. Breakfast is cooked on the Aga and served in the light airy dining room.
There are too many beautiful views in and around Crosshill House to show them all here. In summer you can relax in the beautiful gardens, at Christmas share the magic of the season with us through our decorations. If you would like to see more views through the seasons, please click on summer or Christmas.
Regular visitors will be sad to learn that having developed an aggressive form of cancer, Charlie, our beautiful retriever, had to be put down in late July. He is deeply missed and we are sure our many guests who visit to see him will share our sadness at his passing. We are leaving his photos on the web site for a while in his memory.
